Namibia, located in southwestern Africa, is characterised by its diverse geography, ranging from the arid Namib Desert to the wildlife-rich savannas.

Population: Namibia's population is estimated to be around 2.5 million people

​

Capital: Windhoek is the capital and largest city

​

International Airport:  Hosea Kutako situated +-45km east of Windhoek

​

Official Language: English is the official language. Several indigenous languages, including Oshiwambo and Otjiherero, are widely spoken

​

Currency: The Namibian Dollar (NAD) is the official currency, although the South African Rand (ZAR) is also widely accepted

​

Economy: Namibia's economy is driven by mining, agriculture, and tourism. It is one of the world's largest producers of uranium and has a well-developed diamond mining industry. Agriculture, including livestock farming, is a significant contributor to the economy. Tourism is a growing sector, attracting visitors with its natural beauty, wildlife, and adventure activities.

Climate: Namibia has a predominantly arid to semi-arid climate. The coastal regions are influenced by the cold Benguela Current, resulting in cooler temperatures, while the interior can experience extreme temperatures, especially in the desert areas. Rainfall is generally low, and droughts are common.

Natural Attractions: Namibia is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, including the towering dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, the Fish River Canyon (one of the largest canyons in the world), and the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park. The country also boasts the unique geological formations of Damaraland and the starkly beautiful Skeleton Coast.

Independence: Namibia gained independence from South Africa in 1990. 

​

Requirements for entering Namibia: Passports must have at least six months of validity remaining beyond your planned date of departure. At least three completely blank pages are required for entry. Tourists can stay for a maximum of 90 days in Namibia if they can produce a return ticket.

​

Upon entering Namibia a toursim visa should be applied for at the airport. Only citizens of the 'People's Republic of China' will need to apply for an entry visa upfront. 

 

If you are traveling with minor children to Namibia, be aware that additional documentation is required.

Health Regulations: Compulsory Vaccinations Yellow Fever (if coming from an affected area)

Recommended Vaccinations:  Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Polio, Tetanus

Our farm is located in a non-malaria area - 210 km from Windhoek. No malaria prophylaxes required.
